Anglesey Eco-school

A primary school in Anglesey has been built with an innovative design based on a sustainable future.

Ysgol Y Graig in Llangefni not only boasts a timber frame structure and green roof, but also it incorporates a wind turbine and solar panels, enabling it to produce around 50% of it’s own electricity.

Jane Hutt, Welsh Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, officially opened the new school .

“Building new schools fit for a sustainable future is a top priority for the Welsh Assembly Government – and we all have a role to play in the climate change challenge,” she said.

“Ysgol Y Graig is a shining example of how we can create eco-friendly school facilities which will benefit not only staff and pupils at the school but also the community and the environment for years to come.”
