Knapdale Forest Beavers settle into their new home
In May 2009, beavers were reintroduced into Knapdale Forest, Argyll. Beavers were hunted to extinction in Britain in the 16th Century and the programme of reintroduction into Western Scotland is the first of it’s kind for Beavers in the UK. Beavers bring many benefits to other aquatic species such as otter, water vole, dragonflies and fish by creating pools through the building of dams. You can find out more about Beavers and follow their progress on the Beaver homepage.
