Pre-production
Preproduction involves planning and research for the project.
Formulating a plan
The first stage of a production is to formulate a plan of action for filming and for any post production requirements such as animation and graphics. This is where we need to know the message you want to communicate and is also our opportunity to fully understand your filming needs. During pre-production, communication is key. It is at this stage that we discuss any ideas and concepts and how much input into the project you would like to have. You may already have a good idea of how you would like the video to look or you may even have some video already shot which you would like to be professionally cut into a short production. You may also wish to get our input to create a vision for the complete project.
Research
Once we understand your initial thoughts for the video, Back To The Planet will research the concepts and ideas. Research includes everything from a thorough look at the background so that we have a full understanding of the subject we are working on, to looking into possible locations, presenters ,actors and voice over artists which may be required for the project. Once we have completed the research we will then present to you a proposal detailing our vision for the project.
The Proposal
The proposal document outlines the structure and style of the video and includes possible locations, actors or company employees who might appear. A budget based on this original plan will be supplied. At this stage it is important to get the input of all those who will be involved in the production as these may include the marketing manager, CEO, PR agency and other staff members. Back To The Planet will then discuss the proposal with you, make any adjustments necessary and once the proposal has been finalised and a budget agreed, the project will move forward to the next stage.
Depending upon the complexity of the production, Back To The Planet may contact you or your colleagues in order to gather further information in preparation for the production. Time may also be allocated to further research into the subject matter of the video which will assist the technical team in their script writing and story boarding. Once the script and story board have been created, you will receive copies to allow for alterations, ideas and input. Continued communication is important to allow for all necessary development to occur before the script and story board are finalised.
Back To The Planet will scout for and arrange locations for the video shoot if necessary and acquire any permissions needed before the shoot is scheduled. Once the logistics have been arranged, Back To The Planet will release the schedule for the shoot following consultation with all involved parties, again, communication is key to ensure all aspects of the video are ready for the dates of the shoot. Logistics may include specialist equipment hire; transport; safety arrangements and staffing, these will all be arranged by Back To The Planet. The schedule for the shoot will detail dates, locations and those involved for each day the shoot will take place.
